Instructional Designer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓÆµ is seeking an innovative Instructional Design professional to support the development of customized training courses. Reporting to the Manager of Curriculum Services and LMS, the Instructional Designer will: 

  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts, instructional staff, and department colleagues to create various types of training;
  • Design, write, and edit instructional content, as well as coach and support instructional staff to do the same, for delivery of courses in accordance with institutionally determined learning models, best practices, and industry requirements;
  • Employ effective instructional approaches, expertly using all aspects of the ¼â½ÐÊÓÆµ’s LMS;
  • Provide expertise in current instructional technologies and design theories, including training and support for instructional staff;
  • Identify and resolve accessibility barriers, incorporating principles of UDL;
  • Effectively manage workload within a busy department with multiple projects and work within project timelines and budget parameters;
  • Develop and implement evaluation processes for continuous course improvement following Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓÆµ quality processes;
  • Investigate, select/recommend, and integrate proven and emerging educational technology, digital resources, and social media into course design; and
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Education degree with experience in instructional design; an equivalent combination of education and extensive experience may be considered
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in post-secondary education
  • Experience using project management and instructional design expertise in an academic, online learning, eLearning, or instructional design related field
  • Ability to identify and address user needs and problems and recommend solutions in an online learning environment
  • Thorough working knowledge of LMS, Internet technologies, and educational technology implementation strategies
  • Demonstrated skills in media manipulation and web design are required
  • Demonstrated skills in working within a team in an academic environment under strict timelines, demonstrating a high degree of self-direction, initiative, and motivation to complete projects
  • Superior digital literacy, interpersonal and communications skills are required.

Salary:

$39.17 to $49.25 per hour (37.5 hrs/wk)
